How long after my asphalt surface is done, can I drive or walk on it?
Depending on weather condition and nature of the work, a typical asphalt application will take approximately 24-48 hours for new asphalt to properly set. Thereafter, you may drive or walk on it. During the first 12 months, we highly recommend using care and caution as it takes about 8-12 months for the surface to
properly cure.
Are you a residential paving contractor?
Since we focus on commercial paving and industrial paving, our equipment and operations are tailored for larger jobs and are not always cost-effective on small projects. If you have a large driveway or are in need of a tennis or basketball court, Atlas Paving can give you a competitive paving price.
Is it cost effective to seal cracks?
Absolutely, by crack-sealing regularly you will prolong the life of the pavement by not allowing water to penetrate through the crack and cause further deterioration of the pavement.
What determines if I can resurface my existing pavement?
The condition of the asphalt mat as well as the condition of the stone base course will be primary factors. If there is a large amount of alligatoring present, or if it is evident that there is base failure, you probably shouldn’t consider an overlay.

What is the best time of the year to have repairs and maintenance performed on my parking lot?
Parking lot repair work must be performed outdoors, so the biggest factor in considering when to perform the work is the outside temperature. Of course, the best time to perform this work is in optimal weather conditions, from the middle of April to the end
of October.
Why should I use asphalt instead of concrete?
Asphalt is less costly to build and to repair than concrete. Asphalt can be resurfaced rather than completely replaced like concrete and it takes less time to build an asphalt pavement than a
concrete pavement.

Can Hot Mix Asphalt be used for other things besides roads, parking lots and driveways?
Yes. HMA is ideal for walking trails, airport runways, running tracks, bicycle and golf cart paths, basketball and tennis courts. It can also be used to pave cattle feed lots, poultry house floors, barn floors, and greenhouse floors. Asphalt paving materials have been used to line the surfaces of everything from fish hatcheries to industrial retention ponds. For decades asphalt paving materials have been used as liners for water reservoirs.
